  • Analysis of oilseed plantings during the past seven years worldwide confirms the increasing dependence on soybeans, sunflowerseed and rapeseed, which is confirmed by a substantial increase in combined plantings of the three oilseeds by 41.9 Mn ha in the 7 seasons from 2019/20 up to 2026/27.

  • Palm oil prices declined today in Southeast Asia. While current stocks are comfortably large in Malaysia and Indonesia, market participants are now focussing on the production outlook for the coming months.

  • Rapeseed production in South America is estimated to increase by 0.5 Mn T or roughtly 40% in 2026/27, mainly in Uruguay and Brazil, with details given in the FLASH.

  • El Niño is strengthening and has resulted in drought in many parts of Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Increasing number of forest fires on Kalimantan.

  • EU-27 sunflowerseed crushings increased sharply by 0.6 Mn T from a year earlier in Febr/July 2026, with the biggest increase in Bulgaria, resulting in higher export supplies of sunflower oil and meal. In the FLASH report we also discuss the outlook for 2026/27.
