  • There is more downward potential for soya meal prices in the medium term, as we discuss in today’s report.

  • In the USA RIN prices have rallied significantly to a 3-year high. Soya oil prices are supported by increasing demand from the biodiesel industry with latest production data until May.

  • Chinese imports of oilmeals were surprisingly high again in May and increased by 1.5 Mn T or 31% from a year earlier in Oct/May 2025/26, with biggest increases in sunflower meal and palmkernel meal.

  • Significant increases were registered in China during May for the imports of palm oil and the exports of soya oil and used cooking oil.

  • Another above-average increase in oilseed disposals is anticipated to materialize in 2026/27 with world production of palm oil set to decline....We currently peg world production of 10 oilseeds at 703.9 Mn T for 2026/27, 16.8 Mn T above last season....

  • World production of sunflowerseed is estimated to increase steeply by 5.8 Mn T next season, reaching a high of 63.3 Mn T, on the assumption of about normal weather conditions from now on.

  • Many farmers have shifted plantings in favour of sunflowers, with details given in the FLASH.

  • The USA is losing market to South American soybean exporters, as discussed in the FLASH.

  • US soybean crushings declined seasonally in May, but were still 5% above the year-ago level, driven by sharply rising domestic requirements of soya oil.

  • The suspension of fishing in Peru has created a very tight global situation in fish oil and meal and with demand-rationing inevitable, prices are skyrocketing. Peruvian fish oil and meal prices have already reached US-$ 7500 and US-$ 2980, fob.

  • US net imports of 17 oils & fats plus used cooking oil are on an increasing trend but they could not yet stop the uptrend in US soya oil prices. But this could change.

  • World exports of rapeseed & canola are set to recover sizably in Jan/June 2026. We provide details of latest export data with breakdown by country of destination.

  • Paraguay: Soybean exports were high again at 1.1 Mn T in May, most of which to Argentina.
