  • Ukrainian farmers have become very reserved sellers owing to the sharp decline of domestic prices caused by the interruption of exports.

  • World exports of palm oil declined by 0.5 Mn T on the year to 12.1 Mn T in April/June 2026, having lost market shares to other vegetable oils, as we point out in the FLASH.

  • Black Sea shipping from both Russia and Ukraine has been largely stopped, sharply reducing exports of sun oil, oilmeals and grains. But how long?

  • In the USA, the HVO capacity utilization has increased further to about 90% in June, with soya oil the dominant feedstock, with details given in the FLASH.

  • Indonesian exports of palmkernel meal increased only slightly by 2% in Jan/June, while exports of palmkernel oil declined.

  • Indian imports of vegetable oils recovered in July, but remained sharply below last year’s level.

  • Palm oil has improved its competitiveness vis-à-vis soya oil on the world market, which will soon be reflected in a pick-up in world trade volumes.

  • Exports of agricultural products through the Black Sea have sharply declined lately, due to increased fighting and even attacks on commercial vessels and port infrastructure, affecting exports of wheat, oilseeds, vegetable oils and oilmeals from both Ukraine and Russia.

  • In India, oilseed plantings have accelerated in the second half of July, but they are still running behind schedule, and cumulative rainfall is still below normal.

  • In Russia weather conditions were generally favourable during July and some observers have further increased their sunflowerseed production estimate.

  • EU net imports and apparent consumption of oilmeals declined sizably so far this year.
