●  Sunseed crushings and product exports from Ukraine & Russia will significantly trail requirements of importers as long as major shipping routes are disrupted.

● Imports and consumption of veg. oils increased sharply in North Africa in 2025/26, mainly in Egypt.

● EU-27 crushings of rapeseed reached a new high of 26.3 Mn T (up 1.2 Mn T) and of sunseed 8.0 Mn T in July/June 2025/26 (+0.2 Mn T).

●  Canadian biodiesel output reached a record 0.9 Mn T in Jan/July 2026, boosting usage of canola oil.

●  The energy market was the major growth driver in 2025/26, accounting for an increase in consumption of oils and fats by 5.1 Mn T, vs. 3.3-3.4 Mn T for food and other uses.

● Global soya oil usage for biodiesel production may increase by 2.6 Mn T in 2026, mainly in the USA.

● Soybean crushings continued to increase sizably in August but world exports declined, mainly to China.

●  A further pronounced increase in world production of rapeseed meal is expected in 2026/27, mainly in China, Canada and Russia. 

● Import demand for UCO is on the rise in Europe and the USA.

●  Rising US net imports will limit the increase of G-3 net exports of soya oil to about 130 Thd T in Sept/Dec 2026. Soya oil consumption in the USA, Argentina & Brazil seen rising by 2.4 Mn T in 2026.

● Combined soybean exports to China amounted to 28.75 Mn T in June/Aug 2026, 2.8 Mn T less than a year earlier.

● EU rapeseed production may have declined by as much as 1.0 Mn T in 2026, despite the increase in the harvested area of 0.2 Mn ha.

● Signs of strengthening El Niño. Kalimantan, the Indonesian part of Borneo, received less than 50 mm of rainfall per station or only 21% of normal in August. 

● Uptrend of corn oil exports from Brazil, Canada and China so far this year, mainly to biodiesel producers in Europe and USA.

 ● Argentine farmers are expected to reduce  plantings of corn, favouring a somewhat larger soybean area.

●  US net imports of oils, fats and UCO soared to a new high of 0.97 Mn T in July 2026, driven by booming biodiesel production. Latest EPA ruling is seen adding to future biofuel requirements.

● Canadian canola stocks curbed below expectations by skyrocketing processing which increased by 1.3 Mn T in Aug/July 2025/26.

● Tightening export supplies have pushed prices of fish oil to new highs of late, enforcing demand-rationing. Production prospects have deteriorated.

● Increasing global sunflower meal export supplies have been absorbed mainly by China this season. Further setback of Ukrainian exports is more than offset by other origins.
