  • Demand for tallow from biodiesel producers will continue to curtail consumption for other  purposes.
  • South American soybean disposals fell  to a 4-year low of 33.4 Mn T in Sept/Dec 2020,  18.1 Mn T or 35% below a year earlier.
  • In December sizable year-on-year increases in soya meal exports from the USA, China and India could only partly offset the shortfall in South American exports.
  • Large purchases from China and Turkey contributed to the strength of sun meal prices in recent months, curtailing supplies available for other countries.
     
  • EU oilseed crushings showed a significant seasonal recovery in Oct/Dec 2020, promoted by higher than initially expected rapeseed processing in December.
     
  • Consumption of 12 oilmeals in China increased sharply by an estimated 5.3 Mn T or 6% in  2020, driven by the rapid rebuilding of the pig herd.
