●   Indian importers continue to rely strongly on soya oil. We expect imports at 1.5–1.6 Mn T in July/Sept 2026, partly offsetting the slowdown of sunflower oil arrivals. 

● Combined soybean exports from 6 countries to China declined by 1.2 Mn T on the year in July while those to the rest of the world increased by 0.9 Mn T, mainly to Mexico, Vietnam and Iran.

● Palm oil exports of Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Ecuador were boosted by almost 50% to a record 1.07 Mn T in Jan/June 2026. 

● Booming US biofuel production has resulted in sharply increasing imports of tallow in recent months, absorbing 61% of tallow exports in April/June.

● Consumption of oils and fats in the USA and Canada increased by an estimated 1.1 Mn T on the year in April/June 2026, driven by rocketing biofuel production. 

● In April/June 2026 world exports of palm oil declined by 0.5 Mn T on the year to 12.1 Mn T, with reductions of 0.1 Mn T each in Indonesia and Malaysia and of 0.3 Mn T in Thailand. 

● Turkish sunseed crop is seen rebounding to a 4-year high of 1.6 Mn T this year. Record imports of 1.56 Mn T in Aug/June 25/26. 

● Combined exports of coconut oil from Indonesia and the Philippines increasd by one third in April/June 2026, contrasting with lower shipments of palmkernel oil.

● Booming domestic crushings are seen curbing Canadian canola exports in 2026/27 despite the record crop currently shaping up. 

● Supply disruptions in the Black Sea are seen lifting Argentine sunflowerseed crushings above expectations in July/Dec 2026, raising export supplies of oil & meal. 

● Chinese oilseed imports increased sizeable in Jan/June 2026, with soaring arrivals of soybeans and linseed more than offsetting the marginal setback in rapeseed & canola. 

● Biodiesel production in Argentina and Brazil sharply exceeded the year-ago level in Apr/June, curbing export supplies of soya oil.

● World supplies of palmkernels, copra and products probably becoming increasingly insufficient as poor weather conditions may compound the downtrend of the yield curve.

● The USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and Ukraine boosted soybean exports by a staggering 5.1 Mn T or 10% on the year in April/June 2026.

● Exports of soya oil to India & Nepal increased to a record 1.6 Mn T last quarter, raising India’s share of the total to 61%.

●  Butter prices were almost cut in half during the past 12 months, pressured by partly sharp increases in production and exports.
