● Crushings of 3 oilseeds in the EU-27 are forecast to increase by 0.6 Mn T in 2026/27. The growth will mainly come from sunseed whereas processing of soybeans and rapeseed is expected to stagnate.

● The larger area may bring this year's Canadian canola crop to 22.1 Mn T. We expect crushings to reach a new high of 13.8 Mn T while exports are seen easing to a 3-year low in 2026/27.

● Palm oil exports from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand declined marginally from a year earlier to 6.3 Mn T in April/May, contrasting with a steep year-on-year increase of 1.9 Mn T in Jan/March 2026. Further slowdown shaping up.

●  Soya oil’s share as biodiesel feedstock declined in the US to 37% in April in response to extremely high prices.

● World production of biodiesel and HVO is forecast to increase by 6.7 Mn T to 69.5 Mn T in Jan/Dec 2026. Biofuels likely to account for 22% of oils & fats consumption.

● Soybean disposals of 7 key countries increased by 11.2 Mn T in Jan/May 2026, thereof USA +6.8, Brazil +4.8 and Paraguay +1.6 Mn T.

● Increasing soya meal exports in Jan/May, despite lower shipments from Argentina and less demand from the EU-27.

● Russian exports of soybeans more than doubled to 0.7 Mn T in Jan/May 2026, mainly destined for China and promoted by this season’s record crop. 

● Linseed oil consumption is seen rising, benefiting from ample supplies and the shortage of fish oil.

  • World crushings of soybeans seen rising further to 372.3 Mn T in Oct/Sept 2025/26, an increase of 95 Mn T in 10 years.
  • World exports of rapeseed are recovering sizeably in Jan/June 2026. Larger shipments from Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Canada and Uruguay more than offset lower volumes from Australia.
  • Fish oil prices rallying further after suspension of fishing in Peru.
  • The oilseed area in Kazakhstan expanded further this year. Production of sunseed & rapeseed may reach at least 2.3 and 0.5 Mn T.
  • Palm oil exports of Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador and Costa Rica increased by 65% in Jan/April 2026.
